Dismissal of 129 Goldilocks Workers Assailed

“Goldilocks tumitiba, Manggagawa kinakawawa!”

On February 9, 2009, 129 workers were refused entry by the Goldilocks management. The workers were informed yesterday regarding the latest decision of the NLRC (National Labor Relations Commission) affirming their dismissal.

In turn, the workers staged a picket outside the Goldilocks Plant in Mandaluyong to protest and condemn the unjust decision.

Four years ago, the workers participated in a PCE (Petition for Certification Elections) held in February 28, 2006 as a result of the sixty (60) days freedom period after the 5-year Collective Bargaining agreement covering March 1, 2001 to February 28, 2006 between Goldilocks Bakeshop Inc., and Buklod ng mga Manggagawa sa Goldilocks Bakeshop (BUKLOD) expired. Separate petitions were filed by three groups, namely; KMG-KMM-Katipunan (Kilusan ng mga Manggagawa sa Goldilocks-Kilusan ng mga Manggagawang Makabayan), Bukluran ng Independyenteng Samahan na Itinatag sa Goldilocks (BISIG) and Obrero Pilipino-Goldilocks Employees Association (Obrero-GOLDEA).Being the incumbent union, BUKLOD was considered as forced intervenor for being the incumbent union.

It was a rough sailing for the workers since the management in collusion with the incumbent union (BUKLOD) questioned the petition filed by Obrero-GOLDEA. On the other hand, BUKLOD, filed a petition to cancel BISIG’s certificate of registration.

Focus on local candidates while preparing for failure of elections

PLM will be running and supporting several candidates, including 14 candidates at the local level, in the May 10, 2010 elections. They include a candidate for congressman in the second district of Marikina (BMP leader Larry Punzalan), one vice-governor in Bulacan (Apen dela Cruz of PLM), one mayor in Pasig (Ric Reyes of PLM/Katarungan left coalition) and 11 PLM councillors in 6 cities and municipalities in NCR, Central and Northern Luzon, and some parts of the Visayas. The 11 councillors are all PLM leaders in the community chapters of the organization.

In the senate, PLM will be supporting an anti-trapo ticket, consisting of J.V. Bautista (Sanlakas), Danny Lim (former Brigadier General, jailed for mutiny against the Arroyo administration) and Risa Hontiveros (Akbayan).

Justice for Journalists and Human Rights Heroes Murdered by Trapo Politics!

End Trapo Politics Now!

Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM) condemns in the strongest possible terms the massacre in Maguindanao. We assert that this is not only a problem confined to Mindanao, but that it’s a symptom of a festering and rotten political system.  We predict that this violence will be the feature of the coming elections, as the political elite struggle with increasing desperation and ferocity for a share of the ever-dwindling national wealth and power.

The Philippine elections are veritable killing fields and the killings have begun!

A new party is born. A party for our times.

A party of Change! A party of Socialism!

“Pare-pareho lamang silang trapo!
Mangungurakot na naman yan!
Bobolahin na naman nila tayo!”

Sounds really familiar. We have heard this expression from people of all walks of life time and again. An automatic response, when one is asked about a certain politician or politicians in general.

For decades, generations of politicians from the same clan and some new ones have been deceiving the masses. Every election for them has been an opportunity to make more promises. And after every election, all these remain just that – promises.
